The name KLOEVEKORN is first found in the archives of the Dome in Osnabrueck (Osnabrück). There was a sale of a meadow in 1341 to CLOEVECORNES MOLEN (Mill). Kloeven means grinding in low German and korn means wheat. There is a Kloevekorn Mill in Osnabrueck which is still standing. Members of the Kloevekorn had a family reunion there some years back. There is a book "Alte Muehle Neues Leben - Osnabrueck 1980" by Wilma Lorenz-Flake (indexed by Google Books) which tells a lot about the family. The Kloevekorn family was one of the first families in Osnabrueck to change from the Catholic Church to the Lutheran Church, reportedly in 1543. The mill was eventually sold to the city of Osnabrueck. Today it is a community place next to the nearby Dom. It is a place for Seniors and church related meetings and events. The house where TEWES KLOEVEKORN and his family lived next to the mill is still standing. All are historic landmarks.
There is a family grave in Osnabrueck at the Johannisfriedhof. Many Kloevekorn family members who were cremated were laid to rest in this plot.
